The Tomato Clownfish is a member of a group of five anemonefish known as the Tomato complex. The Tomato Clownfish is one of the largest members of the complex with females growing to be over five inches in length. On average, females are roughly half an inch longer than males.
All of the mature members of the Tomato complex have a single stripe by the ocular area, except for the Red Saddleback and Fire Clownfish. The male Tomato Clownfish maintains sharp colors throughout his lifetime varying between burnt orange and tomato red. Tomato Clownfish are exceptionally hardy fish, capable of living for more than 17 years.
