Where do tornadoes occur most often?

Areas that experience the highest number of tornadoes each year include the United States, Argentina and Bangladesh. While tornadoes form in many different parts of the world, certain conditions cater to the formation of frequent tornado outbreaks.

A tornado is a narrow column of violently rotating air that extends from the base of a thunderstorm to the ground. Tornadoes are formed when low-level heat and humidity comes into contact with the cool dry air of an upper-level weather system. The regions and environments where such weather patters are most common will be far more likely to see the development of frequent tornadoes.
