To have a safe tragus piercing performed, the person doing the piercing will place a cotton ball in the client's ear to avoid damaging the ear canal, according to Prime Health Channel. The piercer will have sanitized hands and tools and should also sanitize the tragus. To avoid infection, the client must follow all of the aftercare rules, which include keeping the tragus clean, avoiding use of ear buds or Bluetooth, and avoiding chlorine and direct sunlight until the tragus has healed.
