What are transition words?
By Forinfos - 25/02/2026 - 0 comments
Transition words are words or phrases used to clearly link one idea to another, including words such as: furthermore, indeed, moreover, notably, as a matter of fact, on the other hand, and in conclusion. Transition words are used in written English to transition between sentences and to organize paragraphs.
Most transition words fall into four main categories, dependent on how these words are used. Transition words add information, contrast two ideas, show cause and effect, or indicate a sequence of events or ideas. Within these four groups, words can be further subdivided. For example, contrasting transition words can show conflict between two ideas or dismiss one idea in favor of another.
