1. Remove the cause

   Inspect your dog's skin for irritants such as fleas, dust mites, seborrhea or pyoderma. Inspect new accessories recently introduced to the pet, such as a flea collar, a plastic food dish or a bed, as these may be possible causes of the irritation. Treat or remove the irritant from the home. Wipe your dog's coat with a damp towel after walks and trips outside to remove outside allergens.
