How do you get a free trial of Xbox Live?

A free trial membership is available at the Xbox Live website. This allows players to have the Xbox Live Gold membership for 30 days, after which the player needs to cancel or pay for the next month's subscription.

The Xbox Live Gold membership trial is only for new members who have not used it before. The trial period is active when you sign up for a new Microsoft account through an Xbox console or online. When you get to the Subscriptions page, click on "Gold 1 Month FREE Trial," then click "Next." You must enter a credit card, which Microsoft charges $1 to verify it. Microsoft does not charge the credit card for a month's subscription until the end of the 30-day trial period.
