Does Xbox offer free trials?

As of 2015, Xbox offers a one month free trial of the Xbox Live Gold paid subscription. The free trial is available only for users who have an Xbox Live account, do not currently have an active paid subscription and have not had a previous trial membership.

Customers can find out if they are eligible for a one month free trial by signing on to the subscriptions page of their account and checking for a Gold one month free trial subscription offer. A free trial requires that a customer provide payment information. If it is not cancelled, it will automatically turn into a paid subscription at the end of the month.
