What trophy is given to the winner of the BCS National Championship?

According to the American Football Coaches Association, the annual winner of the BCS Championship is presented on the field with The Coaches Trophy. A new trophy is made each year, with the winning program keeping the award for permanent display on its campus.

The AFCA began awarding The Coaches Trophy to the national champion in 1986. The most recent version, given to the Seminoles of Florida State University in 2014, stands 34 inches tall and weighs 45 pounds, with the ball that sits atop the trophy weighing 8 pounds. The ball is made of pure Waterford Crystal, takes three months to produce and has a value of $30,000.
