To turn on auto refresh in Internet Explorer open Internet Explorer, choose tools and then Internet options. In the Internet options dialogue box, click security tab and select Internet zone. Then click on custom level, scroll down the pop-up list until you see allow Meta refresh and click enable.
The auto refresh function automatically refreshes a web page on its own. This can be useful for web pages that are constantly changing, such as Facebook. Auto refresh is usually set to as a default, therefore if auto refresh is not working, it may be that the version of Internet Explorer used does not support it.
