When was the TV series "Shaka Zulu" made?

The South African television miniseries "Shaka Zulu" released in 1986. Filmed in Natal, South Africa, the show ran for 10 episodes. The series is a biographical account of the life of the Zulu king Shaka, who ruled from 1816 to 1828.

The show uses the 1985 novel of the same name by Joshua Sinclair as its source material. Ed Harper created the series, and William C. Faure directed all of the episodes. Henry Cele played the role of Shaka. Award-winning actors Edward Fox, Trevor Howard and Christopher Lee also appeared in the series as Lieutenant Francis Farwell, Lord Charles Somerset and Lord Bathurst, respectively.
