What is a two-burner forced hot air furnace?

A two-burner forced hot air furnace allows for two different heat settings. If conditions are very cold, then the second burner would turn on. Under warmer conditions, the furnace would run at the one-burner or lower setting.

After the furnace burner has warmed up, the blower comes on and circulates the hot air through the existing duct work of the area being heated. Two-burner furnaces are considered more efficient because they can adjust more easily when conditions are warmer. Popular brands of this type of furnace include Goodman and Amana. Two-stage forced air furnaces are generally more expensive than one-stage burner furnaces, but the cost of operation is less.
