The two oceans that touch the continent of Europe are the Atlantic Ocean and Arctic Ocean. The Atlantic Ocean is the second-largest ocean in the world while the Arctic Ocean is the smallest of the five oceans.
The Atlantic Ocean touches the western portion of Europe. It forms the border of several countries, such as the United Kingdom, Spain, Iceland and Ireland. The Arctic Ocean is located north of the Arctic Circle. It borders Russia and the northern parts of Norway and the Northern Sea Route is a major waterway between these two countries. The Arctic Ocean experiences persistent cold temperatures. During the winter months, the Arctic Ocean is in continuous darkness.
