What type of care does a black-fin shark require?

According to experts at LiveAquaria, the Columbian Shark, also known as the black fin shark, requires a moderately low level of care. Despite its misleading name, the black fin is actually a catfish, and its peaceful demeanor makes it a popular addition to aquariums.

Black fin sharks can grow up to 10 inches long, so a tank size of at least 70 gallons is recommended. The species prefers at least some degree of aquarium salt in the water, and it can be acclimated gradually to saltwater aquariums. Avoid pairing larger black fins with significantly smaller tank mates, and keep the diet to bloodworms, sinking catfish pellets and high-quality algae food.
