ASDA Stores Ltd. is a British supermarket chain that sells many products, including food, clothing and toys. Products are sold in stores and online. Additionally, this company has a mobile phone network.
The name originated through a merger of Associated Dairies and Asquiths in 1965. The roots of this company can be traced to the 1920s when a group of Yorkshire farmers founded a dairy. The business expanded through the 20th century. By 2011, there were more than 500 stores. A notable marketing move by ASDA came in the 1970s when they developed their 'pocket tap' commericals to indicate the money their customers were saving.
