The Vizsla, also known as the Hungarian pointer, originated in Hungary. The Vizsla was bred to be a pointer and a retriever to aid hunters while hunting gamebirds and rabbits.
The friendly Vizsla weighs 45 to 65 pounds and grows up to 2 feet high at the shoulder. It typically lives from 10 to 14 years. The Vizsla craves companionship and shouldn't be left alone for long periods of time. If bored, it may start chewing or destroying things.
A Vizsla does not tolerate cold temperatures and should be kept indoors with its humans whenever possible. The dog is good with children, adults and older adults. It is not recommended for them to be with very young children.
