Types of chairs used at home for the disabled are power lift chairs, wall huggers and zero gravity chairs. Lift chairs gradually lift a person to a standing position or lower them safely to a sitting position. They have a built-in motor and resemble a recliner.
Users can place wall huggers as close as 6 inches to the wall. These chairs are a good option for smaller spaces, as they are able to recline fully in a limited area. Zero gravity chairs are suitable for relieving neck and back pain. The recliner raises the legs above the heart and places the spine into the proper resting position, reducing the strain on back muscles.
