Purchasing tickets for bus travel of any type requires a valid photo ID. Generally, companies such as Greyhound require the photo I.D. to be from a list of government issued documents. Types of acceptable government-issued photo IDs include driver's licenses, passports, military ID cards, state photo IDs (generally issued to individuals without a driver's license), and federally recognized tribal-issued photo IDs.

Through Greyhound bus services, when a ticket is purchased online, customers may set up a password to use to retrieve will-call tickets at the time of departure. This is typically used when the purchaser of the ticket is not present during pickup.
