What are some typical bail bond fees?

The typical fee charged by a bail bond agent is 10 percent for a state charge and 15 percent for a federal bail bond. All states have different rules and fees, some requiring minimum charges and some with even more complicated rules.
Some states that charge 10 percent for bail also bill the defendant for other services that the bail bond agent may have to provide, such as phone calls, gas and mileage. For larger bail amounts, individuals can apply for property bonds with the court. These bonds put the defendant's property and other assets on the line. If the defendant does not show up on his designated court date, the court may attempt to sell the property in order to obtain the forfeited bail money.
