A few complications after bladder surgery include new feelings of urge incontinence, difficulty urinating, inability to urinate, fistula and infection of the urinary tract, states Everyday Health. These problems can be treated.
The majority of these complications only last about a week or two, states Everyday Health. After an incontinence surgery that involves moving the bladder neck and urethra into a higher position, the patient may have trouble urinating until the body adjusts. Antibiotics can treat infections. Fistulas are abnormal openings from the urinary tract into the vagina. If left untreated, these openings can allow urine to leak into the vagina.
