What do you use a brad nailer for?

The most common uses for a brad nailer include building cabinetry, installing small trim work and securing window and door casings. A brad nailer can also be used for small arts and crafts projects or anywhere an 18-gauge nail is useful.
Nails are classified by the diameter of the nail. The higher the number, the smaller the nail. While finish nails are made from 15- or 16-gauge wire, brad nailers use an even smaller nail of 18 gauge. The small nail size, combined with the fact that brad nailers shoot the nail at a high speed, allow nailing small, fragile pieces of wood without splitting them.
