Uses for foam padding include chair cushions, bed padding, karate pads, pillows and sound-proofing. Egg crate or flat foam can add additional padding to mattresses, motor home beds and cots by placing an appropriately sized piece of foam beneath sheets and on top of any mattress pad.

Foam padding can also cushion potentially painful obstacles such as basketball hoop poles, swing set supports, counter corners and over-hanging ceilings. For exposed inner walls, foam padding can also function as an inexpensive and easy to install insulation options by placing the foam against the outside facing walls and affixing it with staples or small nails.
