What are some uses for secondhand bricks?

A myriad of projects can be done using secondhand bricks or pavers, including laying a small path, building a garden wishing well, creating layers in planters or turning them into decorative bookends. These projects range from easy-to-accomplish five-minute jobs to difficult garden projects.

If the quantity of secondhand bricks or pavers is sufficient to make a path through the garden or yard, set them so that the surface of the brick is level with the surrounding soil. This creates a quick, rustic path. Single bricks that are spray painted, or even stenciled, can be turned into unique bookends. If the brick has holes, it can be transformed into a votive candle holder or interesting pot for succulent plants.
