What is USL&H coverage?

USL&H coverage is workers' compensation benefits established by the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act, according to the John W. Fisk Company. These benefits are for maritime workers who are not covered by the Jones Act, the Merchant Marine Act or state workers' compensation laws.

Individuals who work certain jobs performed on navigable waters or on adjoining docks, piers and marinas are eligible for USL&H coverage, states the John W. Fisk Company. These occupations include ship builders, ship repair workers and harbor workers. Sailors and other ship crew members are not eligible; the act also does not cover those working in administrative, automation or security positions.
