Utan is the name of the largest crocodile in captivity in the United States, as of 2014. The reptile was born in Thailand in 1964 and was introduced to the United States by Alligator Adventure in 2002. Utan is 20 feet long and weighs more than 2,000 pounds.
Utan lives in an exhibit with a total area of 5,000 square feet and has access to a pool with more than 30,000 gallons of water. A hybrid between a saltwater and Siamese crocodile, Utan was located outside of Bangkok, Thailand. Although never measured, the force of this massive crocodile's bite is estimated to be a staggering 5,000 pounds of pressure per square inch.
