What is the value of a Confederate bill?
By Forinfos - 14/01/2026 - 0 comments
The value of Confederate paper bills varies considerably, with the most common bills valued at $100 and extremely rare bills fetching prices in the tens of thousands. Valuation factors include the denomination of a bill, condition of the specimen, relative rarity and the general collector's market at the time.
One issue with Confederate bills is the presence of a large quantity of counterfeit bills; during the Civil War, the United States printed and distributed a massive amount of fake currency to destabilize the Confederacy's economy. Those counterfeit Confederate bills, although of historical interest, are worthless to many collectors.
At least 70 kinds of Confederate currency exist.
