There have been no recalls of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, according to Safecar.gov. However, one complaint was filed on January 20, 2000, complaining of a leak that led to a mold hazard.
The Monte Carlo began as a muscle car with a rear-wheel drive and a V8 engine. As the years went on, Chevrolet made the car more sleek, upscale and energy efficient. By 1988, its place as a sporty coupe was taken over by the Lumina.
By 1995, the engine had been redesigned as a V6, and the car now had front wheel drive. Some car experts believed it was indistinguishable from the Lumina. As of 2006, the Monte Carlo had regained some of its stylishness and power.
