How does someone release a stuck door latch?

Releasing a stuck car door latch requires using a screwdriver to release the clasp. Once the latch is open the door will be able to catch the locking mechanism and close.

Follow these steps to properly insert the screwdriver into the clasp and release its position.

  1. Prepare the vehicle to be serviced

    2. First make sure the vehicle is on a level ground with the e-brake on.

  2. Open the door

    3. Inspect the latch, and see how far in the clasp is stuck.

  3. Slide a screwdriver into the clasp

    4. Use a screwdriver and slide it into the clasp. Slowly pull up to release it.

  4. Check the door

    5. Check the lock on the door by opening and closing it.
