Hinduism was the world’s very first religion, and it's still being practiced as of 2014. The earliest records of religious practice come from Egypt about 4000 B.C. According to the Egyptian Creation Myth, there was only Ocean, which was initially void until a hill of earth emerged on its surface.
The term "religion" comes from the Latin word "Religo," which means “restraint." It refers to a systematic set of beliefs and practices characterized by spiritual experiences. Virtually every culture in human history has practiced some type of religion. Major religions in the world include Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Judaism.
