Vetericyn is not approved by the U.S.Food and Drug Administration for human use, according to the Vetericyn website. However, the product is non-hazardous to humans and animals, according to the Patterson Companies Material Safety Data Sheet.
Vetericyn is a line of topical products that is approved for use in animals, including dogs, cats, livestock and exotic pets, such as reptiles and snakes, explains the Vetericyn website. However, Vetricyn's manufacturer, Innovacyn Inc., makes an over-the-counter, skin and wound treatment, Puracyn, that is approved for human use. It also makes Articyn, a cleanser and after-care treatment for tattoo wounds, explains Innovacyn, Inc.
