Why do vets order abdominal and pelvic scan for cats?
By Forinfos - 27/10/2025 - 0 comments
A vet may order an abdominal and pelvic scan if a cat is exhibiting unexplained symptoms, such as weight loss, diarrhea and vomiting or loss of appetite, or has exhibited urinary problems, according to petMD. A scan can also confirm pregnancy in cats.
An ultrasound scan uses sound waves to allow a vet to see inside a cat's body without invasive surgery, explains petMD. The vet can observe abnormalities in the liver or kidneys as well as masses or fluid in the abdomen.
A vet can also use an abdominal and pelvic scan to confirm a diagnosis such as a urinary tract infection, according to WebVet.
