A video test is a form of electroencephalogram that permits video monitoring of brain wave activity at the time of a seizure attack, says the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Doctors mount electrodes on the scalp and connect them to the EEG equipment, explains the Epilepsy Foundation.
Doctors use video EEG testing to identify the type of seizure, locate the originating point of a seizure or to determine if a seizure with unusual features is epilepsy, notes the Epilepsy Foundation. Video EEG testing takes place in an epilepsy monitoring unit and lasts about three to five days, says the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
