Is vinegar the best agent to clean a Keurig machine?

White vinegar is commonly thought to be a suitable agent for cleaning Keurig coffee brewers. Keurig also sells descaling solution specifically for cleaning its machines, which is recommended for the MiniPlus and can be used with any model.
The inner components of Keurig brewers must be descaled every three to four months to remove mineral buildup. The mineral layer is nontoxic but may hinder brewer performance and shorten the life of the heating element if left in the brewer. Keurig also recommends cleaning the outer components of the brewer, the K-cup holder, and the water reservoir periodically to ensure the health of the machine and prevent mold or bacteria growth.
