What are vintage Breyer horses?

Breyer horses are collectible plastic figures of horses manufactured by the Breyer Animal Creations company. A Breyer horse is vintage if it can be dated between the years 1950 and 1975.

Breyer Animal Creations first began as the Breyer Modeling Company. The first model horse released was the #57 Western Horse. It was made to fulfill a special request by the F.W. Woolworth Company as an adornment for a mantelpiece clock. Soon after, the company was flooded with requests and opted to change its business plan to target the toy market. All its model animals are hand-crafted and hand-painted, making Breyer horses extremely sought after, especially the models made shortly after its inception.
