When do W2's come out?

For 2015, employers have until February 2 to issue W2's. If the W2's are not received by that time, the IRS recommends employees contact their employer.

If employees do not receive their W2 by February 14, the IRS recommends they contact the IRS directly. Employees who contact the IRS will need to have the following information available:

  • Name, address, phone number and social security number

  • Employer address and phone number

  • Employer identification number, if known

  • Estimate of wages earned, federal income tax withheld and dates of employment

The IRS will contact the employer directly to request the W2's be resent, and will issue the employee Form 4852. In the event employees still do not receive their W2's by the time they file their taxes, the IRS will accept Form 4852 instead.
