What does WWW2 mean in a URL?
By Forinfos - 08/05/2025 - 0 comments
When a web address contains "www2" in it, this indicates that a load balancing service is being used to help distribute traffic across multiple Web servers. URLs feature "www" refer to the "world wide web," and the number "2" refers to the Web server number. Using load balancing is helpful when a website gets too much traffic for one Web server to handle effectively.
"WWW2" is considered either a subdomain or host name and reflects a mirror of a website. Not all websites that use load balancing or mirroring include the additional number after "www" in the link. Followed by this portion of the link is the domain name of the site, such as google.com.
