What warranty does Lowes offer on hot water heaters?

As of February 2015, Lowe's does not offer a warranty on appliances such as hot water heaters. Instead, it offers protection plans that extend beyond the manufacturer's warranty. The plan extends protection for hot water heaters from two to 11 years, depending on the level of the plan.

Lowe's Extended Protection Plan offers extra protection on functional parts, labor, surge protection, and normal wear and tear. Additionally, the plan covers appliances that are considered lemons. Lowe's assures its customers that one of Lowe's certified technicians can make the necessary repairs. The plan, however, does not cover any accidental damage, routine maintenance or appliance abuse.
