What are some ways to heat a basement?

One way to heat a basement includes buying a stand-alone heating unit. A pellet or wood-burning stove must be vented, but an electric system only requires a wall outlet. Another heating method is to install radiant panels or heated floors.
If purchasing a pellet stove, a small unit can heat up to 1,750 square feet, which is more than enough for most basements. One of the downsides of this heating method is that it is expensive. Purchasing an electric heater is more affordable, but they consume a lot of energy and can get too hot for children or pets to safely be around. Radiant heating panels and heated floors emit heat that rises up and heats the entire home, not just the basement.
