What is the weather like in France?

France has a climate similar to that of the northwest coast of the United States, with moderate temperatures and around 20 to 40 inches of rainfall a year. There are climate variations between the different regions of France.

The coastal regions in the west of France have average winter temperatures of 40 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit and summer temperatures of 60 to 65 F. Rainfall here averages about 30 to 40 inches a year. Meanwhile, eastern parts of France have colder winters, warmer summers,and slightly less rainfall. The Mediterranean coast is very mild, whereas the mountainous regions of the Alps and the Pyrenees are colder.
