Weeping cedar trees are members of the Alaskan cedar family. They have drooping limbs and evergreen foliage or upturned limbs with foliage that hangs like curtains. The three types of Alaskan weeping cedars are the pendula, the blue and the green arrow.
The pendula weeping cedar or Chamaecyparis nootkatensis "pendula," is a form of the Alaskan yellow cedar. The blue Alaskan weeping cedar, or Chamaecyparis nootkatensis "glauca pendula," is similar to the pendula but has a blue tint to the foliage. Finally, the green arrow Alaskan weeping cedar, or Chamaecyparis nootkatensis "green arrow," grows tall and narrow, with branches hanging tightly near the trunk and is darker blue-green in color.
