What is a Weeping Alaskan Cedar?

The weeping Alaskan cedar is actually a cypress native to the Pacific coast of North America. It grows from Southeastern Alaska to Northern California. Wild specimens of the weeping Alaskan cedar reach heights of 90 feet and can live up to 3,500 years.

A weeping Alaskan cedar is an evergreen conifer with arching, pendulous branches emerging from a nodding central leader. These branches have drooping branchlets with flat sprays of leaves that range from gray-green to blue-green. Landscapers use the weeping Alaskan cedar as a specimen plant. It can be grown in zones 4 to 7. When mature, it reaches a height of 20 to 50 feet.
