A weight and height chart helps to asses a person's body mass index and to gauge body fat, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A body mass index is also known as a BMI.
A weight and height chart is usually termed a BMI chart. BMI charts may differ in appearance but include a scale of height measurements, a scale of weight measurements and corresponding body mass indexes. The BMI is the number present at the meeting point when lining up a person's height and weight on a BMI chart. A BMI of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight, and a BMI of over 30 is considered obese, according to WebMD.
