When were troll dolls invented?

Troll dolls were first created in 1959 by a Danish man named Thomas Dam. Trolls are also known as Dam dolls in Denmark, after their inventor.

In 1959, Thomas Dam was not able to afford a Christmas gift for his daughter, Lila. Dam was a wood cutter and decided to put his wood cutting skills to good work. He carved the very first troll simply by using his imagination. Children in their neighborhood began asking for their own troll doll. That is when Thomas Dam started his company called Dam Things. He began making the trolls in plastic and called them Good Luck Trolls.
