The white-faced saki live throughout a large portion of northern South America. This New World monkey is native to Brazil, Guyana, French Guiana, Suriname and Venezuela.
White-faced sakis, also called golden-faced sakis or Guianan sakis, live in the lower canopy of some South American jungles. They typically live between 600 and 1,500 feet above the ground. The white-faced saki lives in a family group or with a mate. It leaves its birth family at about 2 or 3 years of age so that its mother can care for its younger siblings. White-faced sakis do live and breed while in captivity but behave differently in zoos than in the wild.
