In the 2015 boys basketball playoffs, Bishop O'Dowd of Oakland defeated Mater Dei of Santa Ana 65 to 64 in overtime for the California Interscholastic Federation state title. The girls' winner was St. Mary's of Stockton, which also defeated Mater Dei by a score of 76 to 69.

Bishop O'Dowd's overtime victory was fueled by senior Paris Austin's game-high 21 points and senior Ivan Rabb's 19 points and 21 rebounds, giving the Dragons their second state championship in school history.

St. Mary’s junior Mi’Cole Cayton's 21 points gave the Rams their eighth state title in school history, while denying the Monarchs their fifth state crown.
