Talc is fairly common and found all over the world, with China being the top producer of talc with 2300 metric tonnes annually as of June 2014, according to MapsofWorld.com. The second largest producer of talc is South Korea, with India and United States coming in at third and fourth.
In the United States, the Luzenac Group is the largest talc producer. Other major countries where talc is found and produced include Finland, France, Brazil and Japan. As of 2014, other countries besides the ones mentioned produce approximately 1380 metric tonnes of talc collectively on an annual basis. Talc, which is a 1 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, is the softest mineral on Earth.
