As of 2014, ICD-10 is the most current version of the International Classification of Diseases. The ICD is a diagnostic tool used to monitor general health and prevalence of diseases in large populations and is used by the World Health Organization.
All member states of the WHO use the ICD as a basis for compilation of national statistics on mortality and morbidity and for making decisions about resource allocation. It is available in 43 languages. The 10th revision of the ICD was first approved in 1990 and came into use in 1994. The 11th version of the ICD is slated for release in 2017.
