Taking the Bridgeport Ferry is worthwhile for several reasons, such as avoiding heavy commuter traffic, tolls and high gas prices as well as numerous amenities for passengers. The ferry travels between Port Jefferson, New York and Bridgeport, Connecticut on the Long Island Sound. It carries up to 85 passenger vehicles.

The ferry has a lounge where passengers can enjoy drinks and watch news and sports on a large flat-screened television. There's a wide variety of food concessions. Quiet places are scattered around the ferries where passengers can relax, read or work. The trip takes a little over an hour. Senior discounts are available, and reservations are recommended.
