What was the Xbox 720 release date?

The Xbox 720 was the pre-release industry name for Microsoft's Xbox One video game console, which was released on Nov. 22, 2013. The name Xbox 720 was a nod to the console's predecessor, the Xbox 360.

The Xbox One was released to both fanfare and criticism. The console improved on the Xbox 360 with the ability to play Blu-ray discs, improved graphics and enhanced multiplayer experiences.

Critics of the new console complained that Xbox 360 games were not compatible with the Xbox One, requiring users to purchase new games. In November 2015, Microsoft introduced backward compatibility, allowing users to play a growing number of Xbox 360 titles on the Xbox One.
