What year did we land on the moon?

The first time man set foot on the moon was July 20, 1969. American astronaut Neil Armstrong was the first person to step onto the surface of the moon.

Armstrong was accompanied by fellow Americans Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins. The mission to land on the moon was code named Apollo 11. A Saturn V rocket powered the voyage and took off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The lunar landing module, named Eagle, touched down on the moon, in the Sea of Tranquility. Over half a billion people around the world watched these first steps on their televisions.
