Michael Jordan entered the NBA in 1984 after the completion of his junior season at the University of North Carolina. He became the third pick in that year's NBA draft when the Chicago Bulls selected him.
In Jordan's rookie season, he was voted in as a starter in the annual NBA All-Star Game and won the league's Rookie of the Year award. He averaged more than 28 points per game and played in all 82 regular season games.
The Bulls earned the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs that year, matching them against the second-seed Milwaukee Bucks in the first round. Jordan and the Bulls went on to lose four straight games against the Bucks to end the season.
